Baseball Northern Territory President, Josh Ang, would like to share the following information with the Members:
It is with a heavy heart that the Board recently accepted the resignation of Gemma Scales from the role of General Manager with Baseball Northern Territory. We have had the absolute pleasure of working with Gemma for a little over two years as GM as well as the time she spent on the Board. Throughout that time, Gemma has been a consummate professional always working on how we could look to rebuild Baseball in the Territory both on and off the field.
After being appointed to the role in November 2019, Gemma led the organisation through unprecedented times in COVID-19. While the pandemic threw out the playbook, Gemma was always ready with a plan which made sure that we spent as much time on the field as possible while ensuring safety of players, officials, and spectators.
Most importantly though, Gemma worked to implement policies, procedures and other arrangements to ensure strong governance within the organisation. Baseball NT is in a very strong position thanks to her leadership on this incredibly important issue.
Personally, having worked with Gemma throughout the last three years, I have been so impressed with her maturity and ability beyond her years. I know there is great things in store for her and while I am sad to see her leave Baseball NT, I am pleased that the sporting fraternity more broadly will continue to benefit from her abilities.
While Gemma will be leaving our employment, we know she won’t be far away, and I am sure we will see her around supporting the game in various ways!
The Board will be putting in to place short term arrangements to support the continuity of the organisation’s operations. We will take this time to stop and assess the most suitable arrangements for the organisation to continue to enhance Baseball in the Territory.
Gemma will finish with Baseball Northern Territory on 24 March 2022
