BECOME A COACH


Coaching is a rewarding way to be involved in baseball. Below are the 6 steps needed to become an accredited baseball coach in the Northern Territory.

Baseball Australia have announced the national adoption of the USA Baseball Coaching Certification as its recognised coaching qualification for participation based coaching.

 


Step 1 – Register with Baseball NT

Being registered with Baseball NT ensures you are insured against injury.

Step 2 – Complete a Working with Children Check (Ochre Card)

All coaches are required to carry a valid Ochre Card (Working with Children Check) from Safe NT.

Usually, there is a $72 fee associated with the check, however if you email  admin@baseballnt.com.au we will be able to provide you with a volunteer form which will bring the fee down to $7.

Upload your Ochre Card as part of your registration in “Step 1”

 


Step 3 – Complete Child Protection Certificate

Play by the Rules Child Protection certificate teaches what child abuse is and your rights and responsibilities under child protection laws.

Step 4 – General Coaching Principals Course

Learn the basic skills of coaching, particularly those coaches working with children.

Step 5 – Baseball Australia Coaching Accreditation

Register and login to the Baseball Australia learning system (link below) and chose one of 3 levels of coach you’d like to be and complete the training.

Step 6 – Join a Team

Once you have completed step 1-5, Baseball NT will assist you to find a team for you to coach.
