Community Scoring Skills

Becoming a baseball scorer is a fantastic way to engage with the sport on a deeper level. As a scorer, you’ll be the official record-keeper of the game, ensuring every hit, pitch, and play is accurately documented. To learn the basics of scoring we have 2 free resources:

Further Scorer Levels

Baseball scoring is an excellent way to watch a game of baseball and to be part of the action.

Baseball Australia has charged the Council of Australian Baseball Scorers (CABS) with the responsibility of cultivating and advancing Australian baseball scoring by implementing and maintaining a nationally recognised: development program, accreditation system, and standardised scoring system, which will culminate in ensuring uniformity of interpretations, teachings and minimum standards for scorekeeping throughout Australia.

CABS Membership and Accreditation form

Level O: Orientation to T-ball, rookie ball & baseball scoring. For persons with no baseball scoring background to introduce them to the basics to enable them to score a game at basic club level.

Level 1Club/school level up to but not including top division/grade. For persons wishing to score on a more regular basis, expanding their scoring ability and knowledge of scoring techniques.

Level 2Club level including top division/grade including schoolboys/university competition. For persons looking to score at the highest Territory level and introduction to delivering Level O instruction.

Level ITClub level and National IT scoring. For persons with a minimum of Level 2 accreditation. These scorers will also be eligible to apply for national IT scoring appointments.

Level 3National competition. For competent scorers with the desire to advance to national scoring standard.  These scorers will be eligible to apply for national scoring appointments; facilitate to up Level 2 instruction.

Level 4: National Coordination & International competition. For the experienced national scorer aspiring to the highest level of national responsibilities..

Level 4 ITNational Coordination, International competition plus proven proficiency with BA approved IT program.
