THE DARWIN BASEBALL LEAGUE WILL BE LEADING THE NATION BACK ONTO THE DIAMOND
THIS SUNDAY, JUNE 14.
The 2020 season will see an adjusted fixture, ensuring the competition can play as many games as possible
within their existing season structure. This will see all long weekends having fixtured rounds, and the top grade
will see double-headers re-introduced.
In Division 1, the first match up will see Palmerston Reds cross the Berrimah line to take on Nightcliff Tigers.
Palmerston Reds will come out of the gate fighting to seek redemption from the 2019 season, which saw
Nightcliff have significant victories both times the teams were matched up during the regular season.
Palmerston Reds are the oldest baseball club in Darwin at 64 years old, however they are shifting focus on the
upcoming youth with several junior players entering the lower senior ranks. Will this change in focus help them
to succeed across the board in 2020?
Right off the bat, Nightcliff are slogged with a double-header. Their second game of the day will see a grand-final
rematch against Tracy Village. After a close defeat in 2019, the Tigers will be out for blood to knock the reigning
champs off their pedestal.
Nightcliff Tigers are arguably the most multicultural team in all of Territory Baseball. Will their diversity help them
break their 13-year drought between Division 1 premierships?
Or will Tracy Village, the most winningest club in recent times, make the most of a few names entrenched in
Territory Baseball history to continue their reign?
It all begins Sunday at 10:30am!
