Cal Hooley has won many a trophy on the baseball field, and recently added to his collection by winning the 2022 Blind Australian of the Year. Cal is a stalwart of Territory Baseball, having played both juniors and seniors for Tracey Village, representing the Territory as player and coach, and was the BNTI Development Officer for 4 years.
Cal was diagnosed with a rare macular disease in his teenage years, and is legally blind. While he has taken a break from playing, Cal continued to coach and mentor players in Darwin, most Friday’s you will see him delivering junior programs at Tracey Village. This is in addition to raising a family, running his multi-disciplinary sporting organisation delivering in remote communities, and working full-time for NDIA. They say if you want something done, give it to someone who is already busy, and this is a great demonstration of Cal, who continues to inspire with his passion for developing and supporting others to achieve.
Congratulations Cal.
