Baseball NT welcomes new Development Officer

Published Thu 27 Oct 2022

On behalf of the Board of Baseball Northern Territory, I am pleased to welcome and introduce Kai Meuronen who has joined Baseball NT as our new Development Officer, moving to Darwin from Canberra for the role.

Heavily influenced into playing the game by his mum, a high-level softball player, Kai has been playing baseball since the age of six. Kai played representative baseball at all junior levels and has also represented Illawarra and country NSW in senior tournaments and tours.

Kai spent four years in the US College Baseball system with Grays Harbor College in Washington State and then Waldorf University in Iowa. Kai graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Sports Management and a desire to have a career in Baseball – especially in coaching, player development and high performance.

Kai has spent the last 18 months as the High-Performance Pitching Coordinator with Baseball Canberra. His role included programming throwing and pitching activities for all 4 high-performance tiers and recently attended the 2022 U16’s AYC as the pitching coach for the ACT team.

“Pitching is my passion, and I will happily talk about it for days,” says Meuronen

On top of all his experience directly in the game, we are excited by Kai’s passion for a technology-supported coaching style with Driveline and Rapsodo, two leading tools to improve player performance. We look forward to including these tools and programs in our player and coach development.

While this may divide some, Kai says he is an avid Phillies fan and you’ll often find him awake at all hours watching their games – baseball is his passion and we’re excited to have him on board!
